CTA Construction Selected to Build Scituate Public Safety Complex

SCITUATE – CTA Construction Co. Inc., a leading builder of municipal facilities, has been selected as the general contractor on the new Scituate Public Safety Complex. The $15.2 million project will provide a new headquarters for the Scituate police and fire departments.

“We thank the people of Scituate for the opportunity to work with them to improve public safety and deliver a high-quality facility that meets the community's needs. We look forward to bringing our experience in constructing police and fire stations to the Scituate Public Safety Complex,” said Patrick Tompkins, Principal at CTA Construction, based in Waltham and online at ctaconstruction.com.

The 19,770-square-foot complex will include a joint dispatch center and an emergency operations center to coordinate response for large-scale events and natural disasters. The facility will include three bays for fire apparatus and a sally port for the police to safely transfer prisoners between police vehicles and the building.

The building will be divided into separate police and fire areas, with administrative offices, public records storage, prisoner processing and detention, lockers and a fitness room, and a training and community meeting room. In addition to constructing the facility, the project will include clearing the site, a six-acre parcel on the northeast corner of Mann Lott Road and Chief Justice Cushing Highway (Route 3A), as well as installing new site paving and plantings.

The project is expected to improve response times in the northern and western parts of Scituate, and bring police, fire and emergency managed facilities into compliance with standards. The project architect is Dore & Whittier Architects, Inc.

CTA Construction has completed more than $1 billion in new construction across Massachusetts. Its expansive portfolio of projects includes the UMass-Amherst police headquarters, the Revere Police Headquarters and the adjacent East Fire Station.

Near Scituate, on the South Shore, CTA is currently the general contractor on the Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant Operations Center, and CTA constructed the East Elementary School, also in Hingham.
